“This is my servant; I strengthen him, this is my chosen one; I delight in him. I have put my Spirit on him; he will bring justice to the nations.” - Isaiah 42:1 CSB

Many mighty names that Jesus would carry and embody were prophesied over the course of history.  This name, servant, is not the one that the people of His time were eager for.  It is not the Jesus that they wanted however, as God spoke through the prophet Isaiah in this message, it is the Jesus they needed.  This is the Jesus that God wanted the world to see, in all of His humility, chosen and delighted in by the Father Himself, to bring the world back into order with God.  To make a way for the world to return to right relationship with God again.  Strengthened by the Father for the work to come, we see this prophecy come full circle in the gospel accounts of Jesus’ baptism, which we will get to on a later day, but do not forget what was spoken to the people of Israel here in Isaiah 42.
